Mrs. Segura

Jennifer Segura

Mrs. Segura is a Kindergarten teacher. She has taught Kinder, 2nd, and 3rd for six years at Royal Ridge and Redland Oaks. Her favorite thing about school is helping the children and seeing them learn. She does not enjoy all of the paperwork though. Mrs. Segura has always wanted to be a teacher. Mrs.

Segura was born here, in San Antonio, TX on March 31st, 1977. She has a husband, John Segura and no children. Her favorite ice cream flavor is Chocolate, she loves Mexican food, and she likes the color purple. Mrs. Segura’s happiest moment was when she got married, and her most embarrassing moment was when she tripped on the stairs in college in front of a lot of people. She never got in trouble in school since she was a teacher’s pet. She has two hobbies; taking pictures and decorating the house. Her favorite vacation place is Florida. When she retires she wants to spend time with her family and take lots of pictures.

Mrs. Segura and her husband met by playing the trumpet. Now she is a teacher and he works at Foley’s. With no children, they take care of a four month old dachshund named Critter. Her favorite animal is a dog. Her favorite books are The Giving Tree, The Secrets of Droon Series, and The Magic Tree House Series. She dresses up crazy for Halloween.

Lacey Simons

Lacey Simons

Ms Simons is a second grade teacher at Redland Oaks Elementary School. This is her first year teaching. She enjoys working with kids and that every day is different. She does not enjoy getting up early in the morning. Ms Simons became a teacher because she always wanted to be one, and she loves working with kids.

Ms Simons was born January 19, 1982, in San Antonio. Ms Simons favorite food is chicken fajitas. Her favorite colors are pink and yellow, and her favorite subjects to teach are math and reading. Ms Simons has two pets. She has a dog named Remy and a cat named Snowball. Her happiest moment was when she graduated from Baylor. Ms Simons most embarrassing moment was when she went to the movies with her friend. She asked her to hold her nachos while she went to the bathroom. When she came back and sat down she had not noticed where her friend had put her nachos. She sat on the nachos where her friend had put them.

Mrs. Smith

Rebecca Smith

Mrs. Smith is a third grade teacher at Redland Oaks Elementary. She has been teaching third grade for 24 years. One thing she loves about her job is teaching kids to read. The thing she dose not like is grading papers.

She was born on November 18. She has a husband, two grown sons that have are married. Her favorite holiday is Christmas. Her happiest moment was when children were born. Her most embarrassing moment was at a party. Her sister invited her to the party, and she wore the wrong clothes.

Kellie Spencer

Kellie Spencer

Mrs. Spencer is a third grade teacher at Redland Oaks. She loves seeing the children get excited about something in class. She has only taught third grade.

Mrs. Spencer was born on June 24, 1970. Mrs. Spencer has a husband and three children. The kids are five years, three years, and a two months old. Her favorite color is blue taboo. Her happiest moment was when she got married and when her children were born. Her most embarrassing moment was when she was in sixth grade and she called her math teacher “daddy”. When she retires she wants to travel with her husband and cross stitch.

Mary Sponhaltz

Mary Sponhaltz

Mrs. Sponhaltz is a 2nd grade teacher at Redland Oaks. She has taught for 24 years. She has taught at Woodstone, Redland Oaks, Coker Methodist, and East Terrell Hills. Mrs. Sponhaltz was also was a counselor for 5 years. She enjoys when her students get excited about learning. She does not like committee meetings. Mrs. Sponhaltz became a teacher because her dad would always say that she would make a great teacher. After Mrs. Sponhaltz retires she wants to see the whole U.S.A. She also wants to read and be a volunteer at the humane society, which is a puppy place.

Mrs. Sponhaltz went to two collages Angelo State and Trinity University. Mrs. Sponhaltz was born in San Angelo on December 17. Her three favorite things to do are ride her bike, read, and walk her dogs. Mrs. Sponhaltz has a husband, Dan, and two sons, Clayton who is 20 and Eric who is 23. Her most embarrassing moment was when she was teaching 1st grade and she fainted. It was her first year.

Mrs. Spruce

Judy Spruce

Mrs. Spruce is a first grade teacher here, at Redland Oaks. She has been teaching for eleven and a half years and has spent four of those years here. She says, "The thing I like most about teaching is watching my first graders bloom and grow." She has been married for forty years and has three children named Lynn, Leigh, and Laura. She does not have a pet but if she could she would have a small dog. Her favorite board game is Scrabble but she also likes to play cards. Her favorite color is blue. Her favorite food is chocolate. Mrs. Spruce's favorite place to eat is any Chinese or Mexican food restaurant. She likes to watch football and golf on the T.V. but she also likes to walk. Her favorite college team is the Texas Longhorns. Her favorite hobbies are reading, crossword puzzles, and traveling. Her most embarrassing moment in her life was when she got up from a chair to do something and one of her students moved the chair and she accidentally sat down on the student. It's a good thing Mrs. Spruce and the student didn't get hurt!

Annette St. George

Mrs. St. George
Mrs. St George is a teacher who teaches an autistic unit at Redland Oaks Elementary School. She’s been teaching in special education for 10 years. She loves watching children grow and helping children with disabilities so they can be successful socially, emotionally, and academically. She became a teacher to make a positive difference with families and children with disabilities. When she retires she would like to travel to see friends and family that do not live in Texas. The person who inspired her to teach and to do the best she could do was her Elementary Reading teacher Mrs. McDerromott.

She was born in Manchester, Iowa, on September 27, 1965. She has a husband named Lincon, and they’ve been married for seven years. She also has one son named Jeremy and a daughter named Kaitlyn. She has two cats, two dogs, one hamster, and a hand full of fish. If she were to go anywhere in the world she would go to Germany. Her favorite food is lobster. Her favorite thing to do is to garden, go bowling, to play darts, read, and her favorite color is purple.

Her happiest moment was her wedding day. Her favorite T.V. shows are That 70’s Show and Boston Public. The job that she would like to have would be a travel agent. For her free time she likes to read books and create picture projects on the computer.

Mrs. Strahl
Deanna Strahl

Mrs. Strahl has been married for 18 years to a man named John. She has three children named, John III, who is 12, Wesley who is 10, and Taryn who is 8. She has four pets, Joe the gerbil, Hopper the bunny, Hollie the dog, and Scruffy the dog. Her favorite games are, Uno, Chicken Foot, Jenga, Checkers, and Chess. Her favorite color is red, her favorite foods are chips, and her favorite place to eat is Zio’s. Her favorite T.V. shows are the Sienfield reruns, and her favorite movie is American President. Her favorite hobbies include, jogging, tennis, bicycling with her family, and skiing. Her favorite sports are basketball and tennis. She has been teaching for 12 years, and her favorite subject to teach is reading. The most favorite time of her life was when she had her children. Her favorite childhood memory was when she went on vacation to Mammoth Cave. Her favorite age in life so far is the present, because that’s what’s happening now and she likes watching her children grow and learn. She travels to different states, places and visits relatives on the summer break. Her favorite vacation spot is the mountains of Colorado. Her most embarrassing moment was in a college basketball game she shot at the wrong basket!

Julie Stratemann

Julie Stratemann
Mrs. Stratemann is a second grade teacher. She has taught for 12 and one half years. Her favorite color is yellow. Miss Day has some very happy news to tell. She is getting married in the summer.

Her most embarrassing moment was when her car broke down while she was on her way to a costume party. She had to walk down the street dressed as a bumble bee. Her happiest moment was when she became engaged. Her favoritetie foods are salty foods and vegetables.

Francine Tharp

Mrs. Tharp

Mrs. Tharp has been a nurse for 31 years. She enjoys helping students when they’re ill or hurt. That’s what she enjoys most. There is nothing she doesn’t enjoy about her job. She became a nurse in the year 1971. When she retires she wants to become a person who volunteers to help people in hospitals or nursing homes.

She was born on September 16, at Brenham, Texas, home of Blue Bell Ice Cream. She has been married to her husband for 31 years. She has two sons Cody and Daren. One is married and the other is working his on masters at A&M. Her favorite food is everything but oatmeal. Her favorite place to be is her house on the Medina River in the hill country. Her most embarrassing moment was when she fell while marching in a band during a parade.

Mrs. Tollette

Allison Tollette

Mrs. Tollette is a teacher at Redland Oaks. She has taught at Redland Oaks for 13 years. The grades she has taught are first and second. She has taught at one other school, and that was Walzem Elementary. Mrs. Tollette enjoys watching the children get excited about learning, but Mrs. Tollette just hates paperwork. Mrs. Tollette became a teacher because she wanted to influence kids to be the best they can be.

Mrs. Tollette was born in San Antonio on January 20th. Mrs. Tollette is married and has two children, Allie, who is five years old and Mitch who is one year old. Mrs. Tollette enjoys basketball. She also enjoys Chinese food. Her favorite color is blue. Mrs. Tollette was very happy when her children were born. She was very embarrassed when she was waving at someone in church that she didn’t even know.

Mrs. Tripplett teaches second grade. She has always taught second grade and has been teaching at Redland Oaks for 8 years. She enjoys working with kids and being on the best grade level at Redland Oaks. She doesn't like getting up early in the morning. She became a teacher because she really likes children.

Mrs. Tripplett was born Friday, January 13, 1967, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She has a husband named David and has no kids but wishes she did. Her favorite book is The Bible because, "It's how we learn more about God." Her favorite food is pasta. Her favorite animal is a dog. Mrs. Tripplett's happiest moment was when her husband David gave her a bulldog. Her most embarrassing moment is when she fell on the last leg in the 440 meter relay dash at an important track meet.

Ann Vaseliades

Mrs. Vaseliades

Mrs. Vaseliades was born in California in 1975. She is 29 years old and has been teaching for 5 years. She taught 4th grade at Montague Village Elementary and has been teaching 3rd grade here for almost 3 months. Mrs. Vaseliades became a teacher because she used to work in politics in Washington D.C., but she thought what she was doing there didn’t matter. Her favorite thing about teaching is seeing her class improve. Mrs. Vaseliades dislikes the TAKS test. When she retires she wants to travel and not go to work.

Mrs. Vaseliades lives with her husband, Telly, her dogs, Murphy and Phillip and her cat, Odie. Her 3 favorite foods are caffeine free diet coke, gold fish, and mint chip ice cream. Mrs. Vaseliades got in trouble when she was in third grade for not giving a valentine to one boy she did not like. Mrs. Vaseliades would like to recommend the novel, Bud not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis. She would also like to recommend www.aaamath.com as an excellent site to practice multiplication facts. Her favorite word is scrumptious.

Mrs. Wheeler

Mrs. Wheeler
Mrs. Wheeler is our new counselor taking the place of Mrs. McDougall. She has taught for 18 years. She misses the fifth graders when they go to middle school. She likes meeting with the students and seeing them everyday. She also enjoy's reading to her students. She has taught in five schools.

She was born in Savannah, Georgia, her favorite state and city. She has 4 daughters. She has enjoyed her teaching experience and also loves history. Her favorite hobby's are fishing, camping, golf, and playing Bridge. She loves shrimp, dogs, the color yellow, and Christmas. She likes I Love Lucy and The Sound of Music.

Ann Wrenn

You may have seen Mrs. Wrenn and her wonderful class around the school and wondered who she is. Well this is the big scoop about Mrs.Wrenn.

Mrs.Wrenn is a 4th grade teacher here at Redland Oaks. She has taught for 2 years. Last year she taught 3rd grade. The most exciting part about her job is watching children learn. She doesn't like all the paperwork. She became a teacher because she loves children.

Mrs. Wrenn was born on November 6,1964, in Pennsylvania. Mrs. Wrenn is married to Robert and has been married to him for 12 and 1/2 years. Mrs. Wrenn has 2 daughters. Her oldest one Nicole is in 4th grade and attends Thousand Oaks. Her other daughter is 4 years old and attends preschool. Mrs. Wrenn's favorite food is lasagna and her favorite movie is Mr. Holland's Opus. Mrs. Wrenn's favorite color is green. Her happiest moment is having her children. Her most embarrassing moment was when she messed up a lesson.

Ms Wilson

Ms. Wilson
Ms. Wilson is my sister Caroline’s kindergarten teacher. Ms. Wilson says she loves kinder because the kids are very cute. She has taught kinder for four years at Redland Oaks Elementary. She enjoys being with her students. She hates the paperwork. She became a teacher because she always wanted to be one. Her first job was baby–sitting. When she retires she wants to be a real chef.

Ms. Wilson was born in Oklahoma on September 17, 1970. She is not married and does not have any children. Her favorite times are reading and traveling. She also loves to spend time with her family and friends. Her happiest moment was when she had a surprise 30th birthday party. Her most embarrassing moment was in college. She was in the marching band and at a halftime show she turned the wrong way.

Nancy Zars

Nancy Zars

Ms. Zars is a new fifth grade teacher here at Redland Oaks. She loves 11 and 12 year olds and thinks like one too. She has been teaching fifth grade for 15 years in Montgomery, Alabama, San Antonio, and Christian. She enjoys summertime the most. She doesn’t like waking up so early. Teaching is the only job she’s ever had. After she retires she wants to tutor.

She was born November 5th, in Montgomery. She has three children, Allison 27, Patricia 22, and Paul 19. Paul and Patricia are at UTSA. They all live in San Antonio. She likes skiing, snorkeling, and reading. Her happiest moment was when each one of her baby’s were born. So, I guess she has three happiest moments. Her most embarrassing , moment was on her first date when she fell down her stairs and landed right in front of her date.
