CCSA for Redland Oaks Performing with 185 children, ages 7-18, can be intimidating, but 9-year old Dorothy Sapyta, a 4th-grader at Redland Oaks Elementary loves singing with the choir. A first-year member of The Children’s Chorus of San Antonio (CCSA), Dorothy sang with the entry-level Junior Chorus, one of five choirs that make up CCSA, this past school year. She has been amazed how much she has learned in a very short time and how much fun the whole experience has been. “I was nervous when I auditioned and at the first rehearsal, but singing in the concerts with all of the choirs and even with the San Antonio Symphony has been awesome!” says Dorothy. Rachel Sapyta, Dorothy’s mom, says that, “When you go to the concerts and hear the children sing such challenging music, your jaw drops at how beautiful, musical and professional they all sound. To realize that the Junior Chorus is singing harmonies and chorals (rounds) after just a few hours of rehearsal is nothing short of amazing.” The auditions for next year’s CCSA are being conducted during the month of May, and Dorothy is pretty excited to audition for the next level choir, The Choristers. Redland Oaks wishes her the best!! May, 2008 |
