Brownie Troop Beautification Project

First grade students in Brownie Troop 748 have completed several community service projects this year, including one for their school, Redland Oaks. Under the direction of troop leaders, Mrs. Jackie Robb and Mrs. Linda Smith, Bailey, Nicole, Madison, Caitlin, Meaghan, McKenna, Marissa, and Arianna have provided food for the firemen at the Thousand Oaks Fire Department and have collected dog food, paper towels, and bleach for the No-Kill Animal Shelter in Bulverde. As they planned their third project, members of Troop 748 chose to complete a beautification project at Redland Oaks.

On the southwest corner of the Redland Oaks staff parking lot, shrubs were in need of hours of tender loving care. Troop 748 was excited about bringing their pruning sheers and going to work! Their project was aligned with the Brownies’ first grade science lessons on plants and with Earth Day awareness. Trimming, digging, and bagging took hours. After the Brownies and their parents completed their first Saturday session in this large planter, they decided to extend the beautification project by adopting the garden for next year.

The staff and students at Redland Oaks wish to thank Troop 748 and parents for their community service. Your project teaches all of us that part of good citizenship is lending a helping hand to others in our community.
