Service is an important part of NHS. As an NHS member, you are required to have a minimum of 10 hours of volunteer service each semester, with at least 2 of those hours from NHS itself. NHS hours are green and marked with a "★". Check out the service opportunities listed below, and see how you can help out your community!
Wilderness Oak School Carnival
Wilderness Oak Elementary has their annual school carnival on April 12th, from 4:00pm-8:00pm. The theme is “a county fair with country flair.” They are in need of volunteers to make this event a success! There are several shifts available. Sign up with Mrs. Jensen in HI125, or sign up online by clicking the link below.
Do you have any unneeded test prep books or required readings? Donate them to NHS for some easy hours. You can donate at a rate of 2 test prep books (AP/SAT/etc.) or 3 English required reading novels (The Great Gatsby, Beowulf, etc.) per 1 service hour.
Reagan students need your help! Ask your teachers if they have students that need academic assistance, have them sign a service hour form stating you tutored, and you'll get NHS hours. Tutoring hours count as part of the two required hours from NHS.
Humane Society of San Antonio
The Humane Society of San Antonio has served Bexar County and its surrounding areas since 1952. Every year, the Humane Society shelters, medically treats, and rehabilitates over 5,000 animals that have been injured, abused, owner surrendered, or found as strays until ready for adoption. The key ingredient in our continued efforts remains constant - YOU! Your support, along with the support of others in our community allows us to continue sheltering, providing medical care and rehabilitate over 5,000 animals yearly.
The Humane Society of San Antonio is a non-profit organization that relies entirely on donations, grants and self-generated revenue to operate. It is not affiliated with any national organizations and does not receive support from the city, county, state or federal agencies.
