On Wednesday, August 20, 2008, close to 350 West Avenue Elementary School families attended a campus community celebration. Students and their families met each West Avenue team, and received a virtue card before to record each team station visited. Prior to touring the campus and visiting team stations, students and their families participated in the drum cafe to help get the school started on the right beat.

Teams were stationed throughout the school with a stamp for their assigned virtue. Students and their families toured the campus, meeting faculty and getting their virtue card stamped. Upon completion, students were rewarded with a school lanyard.

The event was the first of many community celebrations designed to communicate that West Avenue values learning, community, character, and works to create a climate students want to respect.
