S.T.E.M.  welcomes parents, students to contract-signing night

Groups of parents and incoming ninth-grade students attended sessions on April, 15, 2008 in the Lee High School library as part of their orientation to join the RAM Academy's Class of 2012. Students were welcomed with a viewing of the recruiting video that teaches the history of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) Academy. Jennifer Stotts, director, introduced students to the core values of the academy by explaining contract expectations, student and parent community service opportunities and the laptop initiative.

S.T.E.M. faculty shared samples of current student work and explained the innovative curriculum in which students access at school or from their home using Moodle, and on-line classroom management system. Incoming students and parents were also given details about the academy's unique ninth-grade summer transition opportunity. This includes field trips and student project presentations.

Parents of students who are interested in attending the S.T.E.M. Academy next year or who would like more information are encouraged to contact Jennifer Stotts at 210-442-0477, or at jstott1@neisd.net.
