Changes made to Royal Ridge boundary

On May 21, 2007, the North East ISD Board of Trustees approved a boundary change for Royal Ridge Elementary School to address the school's population growth. The board adopted proposal #3, which moved the residential communities of Bristol Place, Crestridge, Cozy Cove Mobile Home Park, Heidelberg, OakCrest Pointe Manufactured Home Community and Park Ridge Apartments to Windcrest Elementary School. The board also approved a grandfather policy for Royal Ridge fifth-grade students and their siblings to stay at the school for the 2007-2008 school year. Additionally, school choice will reopen briefly for those Royal Ridge families affected by the change; however, Royal Ridge will not be an available school under school choice.

Royal Ridge opened in Fall 2002 with 477 students. By Fall 2006, the school had an enrollment of 709 students with the addition of two portable buildings. The core capacity of the school, which includes the library and cafeteria capacity, is just under 700 students, which caused the board to consider a boundary change. The boundary change will be in effect for the 2007-2008 school year. View a copy of the Royal Ridge boundary presentation under the Boundaries Web page
