NESA student awarded Harvard Prize Book

North East School of the Arts (NESA) junior Maya Maison, was selected to receive the prestigious Harvard Prize Book. The presentation of the prize book was made by Dr. Nichols Grimes, president of the Harvard Club of San Antonio, just prior to the Friday performance of King Lear on May 4, 2007. Maison was selected because she exemplified the criteria set forth by the Harvard Club through her probing intelligence, intellectual honesty, wide range of interests and the way she actively seeks opportunity.  In addition, Maison is a double major in creative writing and visual arts.

"More than just being smart, these attributes include a real use of the intellect, not only for the acquisition of concrete knowledge, but also for the acquisition of wisdom," said Grimes.  "[The selected high school juniors] have a passion to grow intellectually, morally, aesthetically, physically and socially."

"We are very proud of this exceptional NESA student and her accomplishments," said Judith York, NESA director.
