NEISD students sing for 'Next Big Star' title


Two North East ISD students were named San Antonio winners from Pocket's Next Big Star 2008 semi-finals competition. Students Rudi Gutierrez, Eisenhower Middle School; and La Tandra Joyner, Roosevelt High School, will sing for the grand prize of a $10,000 scholarship and $1,250 A'GACI gift card at the finals on May 18 at the Carver Theatre.

Chelsea Smith from Jackson Middle School also competed in the semi-finals with Gutierrez and Joyner. During the semi-finals, the students competed against other winners from Laredo and the Rio Grande Valley.

This contest is for young singers between the ages of 11 and 18.
