NEISD students win top awards at state Reflections contest

NEISD students participated in the annual Reflections contest sponsored by the PTA; more than 50 students advanced to the state level competition with 25 students bringing home Awards of Excellence and Merit.

The goal of the Reflections program is to expose students to the arts. The theme for the 2007-2008 school year was "I can make a difference." All entries will be judged on creativity and how well the student’s artistic expression represents this theme.

"My black and white photography was of my younger cousin," said Bradley seventh grader Kristen Curd who received special recognition at the local level competition. "I felt the photo was special because it conveyed the message that spending time with children keeps them away from mischief. Therefore, making a difference."

Participating in the contest provides students the opportunity to develop original artwork in one of the following categories: literature, music, photography, visual arts, dance choreography or film/video production.
