Flag flown in NASA mission dedicated to North East
|
On Mar. 25, 2008, Councilman Louis Rowe and former Councilman Jeff Webster presented a City of San Antonio flag that was flown into space on a NASA mission to Dr. Richard A. Middleton and the Reagan High School Library. In December 2006, NASA Space Shuttle Mission STS116 carried this flag courtesy of Shuttle Commander Mark Polansky. Commander Polansky has special ties to San Antonio through his wife Lisa. Lisa grew up in San Antonio, and they own property in the area where they plan to retire in the next few years. This special presentation was held in conjunction with a fundraising art show, hosted by the Reagan JROTC department. |

In addition to the flag presentation, a picture of the crew and crew patch flown aboard the shuttle were presented to Dr. Middleton.
