Madison student to witness presidential history
|
Madison High School head cheerleader Danielle Torres has been invited by members of Congress to attend the 56th United States Presidential Inauguration on January 20, 2009. While participating in the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C. last October, she was selected for this honor because of her leadership skills. She was one of three Texas students attending and the only one invited to attend the inauguration. "I am very proud to have the opportunity to represent NEISD and the city of San Antonio at the next presidential inauguration," said Torres. "I am blessed to have this once in a lifetime chance to experience something that will go down in history." Danielle will attend the Black Tie Gala Inaugural Ball, and she will sit front and center for the swearing in of the president of the United States. "This is a once and a lifetime opportunity, and we are so proud that Danielle is representing Madison and the NEISD community," stated Brandi Boyd, Madison cheerleading coach. "She will have the privilege to take part in and serve as a personal witness to one of the most historic and precedent-setting inaugural ceremonies in the history of the nation." |
