Madison family creates scholarship endowments
|
Frances Pape and her son Grady Pape donated $100,000 each to create two scholarship endowments that will benefit students and teachers. Frances Pape, a retired Madison High School special education teaching assistant, donated $100,000 to create a scholarship endowment for special education teaching assistants pursuing a degree. The money would be used for textbook reimbursement while attending college. Mrs. Pape is also creating the written criteria for the scholarship. Grady Pape, a Madison alumnus, and his wife Jeannette donated $100,000 to the North East Agriscience Magnet Program (AMP) during its annual Burger Bash/Homecoming. The donation will build the Pape Agriculture Endowment Scholarship Fund. Written criteria for the scholarship is being planned, and some stipulations include that the student complete at least three years in the magnet program and consideration will be given based on grade point average, SAT score and life science major.
AMP is one of the largest and most active agriculture programs in Texas. Located on 15 acres at Madison High School, the program is complete with livestock project centers for more than 300 student projects, an aquaculture lab and pond, greenhouse and nursery operation, meat science laboratory and a mechanized laboratory. |

Grady and Jeannette Pape presented their $100,000 scholarship donation to Dr. Alicia H. Thomas, associate superintendent/chief instructional officer for NEISD, at the AMP annual Burger Bash. Also pictured are Madison FFA members and John Mack, AMP director.
