Madison girl's bowling team wins state title


The Madison High School Lady Mavericks Bowling Team won their first state bowling title. The team won with a 2-1 victory over the Alvin Lady Yellowjackets at Copperfield Bowl in Houston. The Lady Mavericks prevailed with a score of 180-173 for their title win. Madison took the first game with a 225-150 score, and Alvin won game two with a 171-125 win setting up a one-game match for the title. Alvin led in the first seven frames, but Madison was victorious in the eighth and ninth frames, and marking in the tenth while taking advantage of a costly 10-pin miss in the ninth by Alvin.

The Lady Mavericks went into this match as the third seed behind Allen and Plano East. In their first match, they defeated Spring and Richardson Berkner. In the semifinals, they won over the second seed Plano East to set up the final with Alvin.
