MacArthur student named semifinalist in 2008 U.S. Physics Contest

James Carpenter, a MacArthur High School senior, was selected as a Semifinalist in the 2008 U.S. Physics Contest leading to the selection of the U.S. Physics Team. Carpenter was among the top 158 Semifinalists who scored exceptionally well on a series of exams administered to thousands of students across the U.S. by the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) and the American Institute of Physics (AIP).

In addition to Carpenter's success, MacArthur physics teacher Matt McDaniel received special recognition from AAPT and AIP for his efforts in promoting excellence in physics education.

McDaniel, Carpenter and the school all received various awards—ranging from recognition certificates to DVDs to gift certificates—to accompany their success and recognition.
