The Krueger Middle School Sea Falcons Robotics Team recently competed against 11 high school teams in the Marine Advance Technology Education (MATE) Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Texas Regional Competition at NASA's Neutral Buoyancy Lab in Houston. Students had to research the hydrothermal vents found along the East Pacific Ridge and use the engineering process to develop and deliver a fully functional ROV to accomplish three set tasks. The Sea Falcon robotic engineers included: Jackie Bailey (7), Christine Coffman (8), Tristan Creswell (6), Nicki DeBolt (7), Ian Limon (8), Miguel Nze (8), Cody Omsby (6), Luis Pompa (8), Garrett Rouse (7), Stewart Schuetze (7) and Braden Schwartz (7). The team was directed by Nick Schuetze (8), the Talon program manager and mission director. The Sea Falcons of Krueger Middle School were proud to announce that they out scored some high school teams in Poster Display, Engineering Presentation and Competition Play. "This is remarkable considering this is the first time Krueger students had ever built an underwater ROV," said Scott Rogers, director of magnet schools. |
