Jackson Honors Band places seventh in state, first for school
|
The Jackson Middle School Honors Band placed seventh at the State Honor Band Competition held at the Texas Band State Convention in downtown San Antonio on July 27, 2008. Jackson competed against 13 other schools across the state. "I'm very proud of all their hard work and effort," said Kimberly Rosenberg, Jackson Band Director. "This is the highest Jackson has ever placed." Jackson reached the State level of competition after successfully competing in the Regional competition and then the Area competition, both held in June. The Area competition included the top two bands from each region, a total of 56 competing schools. The top two schools from each of the seven Areas were then selected to advance to State. To compete, schools submitted a recording of their band performing the competition pieces for the judges to review at each round. "I look forward to working with out returning members as we continue to represent Jackson with pride in our continued pursuit of excellence," said Rosenberg. |
