|
Engineering and Technologies (ETA) Senior Matt Kluckman was selected to participate in the 2008 United States Air Force Academy Summer Seminar in Colorado Springs, Colorado. "This is a unique opportunity for young people to get a very clear understanding of the commitment necessary to attend the United States Air Force Academy and to become an Air Force officer." said ETA Director William Sturgis. Kluckman was immersed in cadet life; he was assigned to an element with an upper class cadet element Leader, and spent a week with the element leader to experience the life of a cadet. Kluckman attended classes taught by the same faculty who instruct cadets. While there he attended workshops ranging from aeronautics to humanities. Each morning he participated in a variety of physical fitness activities. At the conclusion of the week, Kluckman became a "Doolie for a day" where he experienced what it’s like to be a fourth class cadet. He also took part in activities to include marching, room inspections, military knowledge tests, obstacle course and the strenuous physical training class cadets undergo. To close the the program, Kluckman participated in a graduation dinner and culmination ceremony. |
