ETA students selected to Texas A&M E-12 program

Twelve students from the Engineering and Technologies Academy (ETA) were selected to participate in the E 12 program. Chelsea Dixon, Geron Fuller, Kymberly Juettemeyer, Issaac Paredes, Desiree Perryman, Evan Weber, Blake Thomas, Elizabeth Freeman, Thomas Mullins, and Stefan Nutbrown and Stephanie Liddell were invited to attend College station to spend the day with engineering students and get a feel for Texas A&M University's campus.

The schedule for the day included the opportunity to shadow a real-college class--energy 101. The students also met with college officials to discuss the Honors Program, admission tips, and financial aid advice. Further more, the students had lunch with a panel of engineering students which all but one was an ETA student.

After lunch the students participated in a series of tours of the various campus programs, such as the optics lab in the Chemistry department.  In the Robotics lab, the students met a grad student who was working on a robot for NASA. The final tour of the day helped students learn about Aggie traditions.

E 12 is an undergraduate recruitment program at Texas A&M designed to establish partnerships with top performing Texas high schools to increase the number of well-prepared, diverse student enrollment. Also, E 12 provides high school students information about the opportunities available in engineering disciplines and to encourage students to pursue a career in engineering.
