Coker students walk for diabetes, raise most money in San Antonio again
|
Coker Elementary recently completed its "School Walk for Diabetes" on April 11, 2008 and raised more than $10,000 - surpassing their goal. Some of the money raised will help the American Diabetes Association find a cure for child and adult diabetes. This is the school's fourth year in a row to coordinate the event, and they are planning on continuing the event again next year. Coker has been the number one school in San Antonio for the last three years to raise the most money, and by raising more than $10,000 - this will mark their fourth year in a row. This was a community event that parents, students and staff participated in, and part of the money raised will also go back into the Coker physical education budget to purchase equipment for the school. "Thanks to the Coker community for helping us educate our students and parents about diabetes," said Mike Sansavera and Craig Nolder, physical education teachers and school walk coordinators. "Hopefully, soon, there will be a cure." |
