Clear Spring Patrol Rally -- NEISD.net

Clear Spring patrols receive outstanding rating

The Clear Spring Elementary Safety Patrols attended the 68th Annual City-wide Safety Patrol Rally in March. The patrol rally was sponsored by the Kiwanis of San Antonio and the San Antonio Police Department and was held at the Lila Cockrell Theatre. The rally is held every year as a way to thank and honor the safety patrols for all of their hard work, commitment and dedication to serving the students and staff at their respective schools. In addition to Clear Spring, other North East ISD schools participated in the event.

After the introductions and the pledge the students were treated to a special message by guest speaker, Sonny Melendrez. He shared how he became involved in the radio and television industry through voice impersonation of his favorite cartoon characters. "The message was funny, entertaining and inspirational," said Adam Schwab, principal.

Melendrez spoke to the crowd about pursuing their dreams, and the Alamo City Heat also "fired" up the crowd with a concert. Alamo City Heat is a band comprised of local SAPD officers. Alamo City Heat performed today's hits, oldies and sing-along participation songs such as The Macarena.

The final part of the rally was the awards ceremony. Each school represented at the rally had its name called and the school's representatives walked across the stage to accept their award. Clear Spring Safety Patrols received an Outstanding rating for the school year 2007–08.

"The 68th Annual City-wide Patrol rally was a huge success," exclaimed Schwab. "The students had a fun and exciting time, but more importantly they were honored and appreciated for their service as safety patrols this year."
