Churchill creates campus-wide 'Hold the Door' Day

Churchill High School celebrated "Hold the Door" Day on March 20, 2009 as a project of Lori Brown's English IV Gifted and Talented (GT) class. The class was assigned a project to think of an event that would have a positive influence to change the world. Austin Hicks, senior, suggested his idea of "Hold the Door" Day. He remembered how grateful a woman was when he opened the door for her, and he realized something so simple as opening the door could possibly have a positive influence city wide and beyond.

Posters were hung around the campus to promote "Hold the Door" Day that read: Not merely just a day to hold the door open for somebody but just to do any small act of kindness, even for somebody you might not know, so that their day along with yours can be a little bit more special.
