Churchill student competes in national debate

Churchill High School junior Claire Daviss has been selected to compete in the Tournament of Champions Lincoln Douglas Debate from May 2-4, 2009 at the University of Kentucky. This is one of two national championship tournaments offered for high school debate students.

Each year, many of the top debators in the U.S. qualify by either placing at two specially designated qualifying tournaments or placing at one and having their at-large application accepted by the Tournament of Champions Advisory Board. This year, more than 27 at-large applications from students across the U.S. were submitted, and eight were accepted - which includes Daviss. A total of 76 students will compete, representing more than 20 states.
