Churchill students place in top six in National Competition

Churchill High School students Forrest Weber and Sarah Lavere were finalists in Duo Interpretation at the 2008 National Forensic League National Tournament held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Placing among the top six duo teams in the nation, Weber and Lavere beat out 223 other teams.

Duo Interpretation requires a team of competitors to interpret a memorized piece of literature without costumes or props. Duo is one of 10 main events at the tournament, and attracts more than 3,100 students from all 50 states and the Pacific Islands, Korea and Singapore.

The League is the nation's oldest and largest speech and debate honor society. Through speech and debate activities and competitions, the League helps develop a student's lifelong skills and values. In addition, the League hopes to promote public awareness of the value of speech, debate and communication education.
