District TAKS results beat state averages
|
North East ISD recently received some preliminary results from early administrations of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). The district's results for reading at third, fifth and eighth grades and for math at fifth and eighth grade were better than the state's averages for the same tests. On Mar. 5, the first round of TAKS testing began for the 2007-2008 school year. Among those assessments were reading tests for third, fifth and eighth grades. The district had a pass rate of 91, 89 and 96 percent respectively. These are higher than the state averages - as has been the case in previous years. On Apr. 8, the district's fifth- and eighth-grade students were given the Math TAKS, and these preliminary results also beat state averages. Among our fifth-grade students, 89 percent passed, while 88 of our eighth-graders did as well. Across the state, 83 percent of fifth-grade students and 75 percent of eighth-graders passed the math TAKS on the first administration. More TAKS administrations are occurring April 29-May 2 in Math, Science, Social Studies and English/Language Arts. Results for those tests will come later. |
