For the sixth year, NEISD Dance departments will host "Dance Intensity - 2008" on August 15 - 16 from 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at Roosevelt High School. Dance and drill teams from the seven high school campuses and the North East School of the Arts Dance Department will participate in this workshop featuring six choreographers from throughout the United States. At 3 p.m. on August 16, select students will showcase the newly learned dances in a performance held in the school's gym and open to the public.

"This workshop will enable dancers and directors to begin the year with cutting edge choreography, technique and diversity in style taught by the elite Dance Intensity staff," said Diana Schumacher, executive director of fine arts. "This is a means for both staff development and exposure for students to dance styles from across the country."

Participants will rotate to each choreographer throughout the day, spending approximately one hour with each choreographer. During rotations, choreographers will observe each dancer and choose 12 to perform in the Saturday Showcase.
