Madison Comanche Challenge -- NEISD.net

Madison raises funds through run/walk
EVENT: Run/walk
DATE: Apr. 14
TIME: Registration at 9 a.m., run/walk at 10 a.m.
LOCATION: Comanche Park, 15551 Nacogdoches Rd.

The Madison High School Mavs Make a Difference (MAD) will host their second annual run/walk on April 14, 2007 at Comanche Park (meeting at Fox Run Elementary: registration at 9:00 am, run/walk at 10:00 am).  The run/walk will be around the park (just under 2 miles) taking in the scenic views of Northeast San Antonio, and a nice view of downtown.  The run will have a competitive division for those who enjoy competition or participants are welcomed to simply jog or walk the route (babies and dogs welcome).  Children under 12 are free, and there will be a special MAD dash for children five and under; ribbons will be awarded to all.

The fee is $10 per person or $17 including a Mavs MAD t-shirt, while supplies last.   All proceeds will go directly to the three year old sponsor child, Gavin, and his family.  Both Gavin and his mother continue their cancer treatment with daunting financial needs.  The community's help and support is greatly needed for this especially appreciative family.  Gavin and his family are planning on attending the event, and a check will be presented to them from previous fundraising.

This event will be MAD's last fund raiser of the school year and is the primary fund raiser for Gavin.  The run/walk last year was a great success, and the goal is to top that this year.  Many thanks go to the City Council and the Parks Department for arranging to use the park for free.
