Madison theatre presents Bye Bye Birdie
EVENT: Madison theatre presents Bye Bye Birdie
DATE: May 15 - 17
TIME: 7 p.m.
LOCATION: Madison HS, Auditorium, 5005 Stahl Rd.

Madison High School theatre will present Bye Bye Birdie on May 15 - 17 at 7 p.m. in the school's auditorium.

Bye Bye Birdie tells the story of a rock and roll singer Conrad Birdie, who is about to be enlisted into the army, and his agent Albert Peterson, who faces bankruptcy without his star.

To help, Rose Alvarez, Albert's secretary/fiancee, concocts the idea of a national publicity stunt before Birdie leaves for boot camp: he will bid a typical American teenage girl goodbye with the song "One Last Kiss." This stunt would leave Almaelou Music Company with a hit song to hold on to while Birdie serves his country.

Kim MacAfee of Sweet Apple, Ohio, wins the honor, and the telephones in town begin buzzing because she has just been "pinned" to Hugo, a local boy.

The arrival of Conrad Birdie causes a much larger buzz, as well as spontaneous swooning, with young and old alike. Kim's household is completely upset by the visiting celebrity, particularly when it is decided that Birdie will give away his "One Last Kiss" on the Ed Sullivan Show.
