EVENT: Former Madison student visits El Dorado
DATE: Jan. 16
TIME: 12:45 - 2:30 p.m.
LOCATION: El Dorado ES, Library, 12634 El Sendero

Former Madison High School graduate Jacob Gutierrez will visit El Dorado Elementary School on Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 12:45 - 2:30 p.m. As a motivational speaker, Gutierrez will deliver two consecutive presentations--first to the fourth-grade (12:45 p.m.) and then to the fifth-grade (1:45 p.m.).

Gutierrez graduated from Madison in 2002, and was named the San Antonio Offensive Player of the Year.

Gutierrez completed his college career playing for Oklahoma University, where he was elected a captain role for the 2007 season. He was one of the six national finalists for the 2006 Coach Wooden Cup Award, which honors student-athletes who best display teamwork, character and citizenship on and off the field. Gutierrez has volunteered at middle schools by spending at least one day a week at each school mentoring students. He also attends many of the students' extracurricular activities.

"Kids are impressionable," said Gutierrez. "I enjoy being able to position myself to be a positive role model for these kids. Football can be more than just scoring touchdowns and gaining yards, it can be a tool for helping people."
