Mark Anthony Contreras (mcontr11@neisd.net) is the Captain for the North East ISD Police Department. A San Antonio native, he attended UNIPEN Christian Academy, San Antonio College and most recently the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT) at Sam Houston State University. He began his 18 year career as an officer with the Bexar County Sheriff Department in 1990. Captain Contreras has also served a Texas Peace Officer with the Pearsall Police Department, Uvalde Police Department & Frio County Sheriff Department as a specialized investigator assigned to youth crimes and school services. Captain Contreras is both DARE & GREAT certified instructor and has taught both programs in the elementary and middle school class settings. On June 2000 Captain Contreras joined the Harlandale ISD Police Department. From 2000-2006, Captain Contreras was promoted to the rank of Corporal and later Sergeant. On October 30th 2006 Captain Contreras was named to his current position as Police Captain for the North East ISD. Captain Contreras enjoys serving the North East ISD community and considers his current assignment both intensely challenging and rewarding.
Captain Contreras is married and has two children.

I am the Administrative Assistant to Chief George G. Castañeda. I have been employed with the North East Independent School District for nine years. It is my responsibility to assign the officers to all extra-duty events. I am the grant writer and manager for the Texas Comptroller’s Tobacco Program which we implemented in the fall of 2008, and I also conduct presentations on the Tobacco Program, Bullying, and Personal Safety
