Student Practicum/Field Experience

 

Student requests for Practicum/Field Experience must be made in writing via email, fax or postal service/hand delivery.

A DPS Background Check must be done and cleared by the Human Resources Department for anyone requiring 20 hours or more and/or requiring interaction with students. This must be done prior to accommodating an observation and allowing the student observer on campus. If the Practicum/Field Experinece student is to have access to student records, a confidentiality form must be completed and signed, to be kept on file.

Written requests must include the following:

  1. Student's name
  2. University attending
  3. Certification area
  4. Number of hours required by university class
  5. Subject and grade level preference
  6. Description of the practicum/field experience requirements (i.e., course syllabus)
  7. Student contact information. Minimally, this includes an email address and phone number. Other information the student observer wishes to share is also welcome.

If North East ISD can accommodate the Practicum/Field Experience student observer, the HR Coordinator will notify the student observer that he or she should contact, depending on the certification area, the school, Director of Guidance Services, Director of Health Services, or Director of Library Services to make arrangements. Observers must take with them to the campus/department the following:

  1. A copy of the course syllabus
  2. Photo ID

Actual NEISD student names cannot be used in assignments.

NEISD cannot accommodate student teachers required to audio or video tape students.

North East ISD reserves the right not to accept a Practicum/Field Experience student provided the decision is not based on race, sex, national origin, disability, age, religion, or any basis protected by law.
