New Employee Information

As a new employee, you will be expected to attend New Employee Orientation (these dates and times will be provided when you fill out your preliminary paperwork). Only hourly employees are paid for this day and a half. If you are a new teacher, you will also be expected to attend New Teacher Orientation on August 3, 4, & 5 (time and place to be announced). These days are not paid. The purpose of these orientations is to give you the information you need to get you ready for a long wonderful journey with North East Independent School District.

Teachers, your first day on the campus will be August 8, 2005 (this is when your pay will start).

Foreign Visiting teacher - It might be helpful for you to arrive in San Antonio on or before July 22. This will give you an opportunity to look for housing, furniture, an automobile, and other incidentals you might need during your stay here in San Antonio. We can probably help you get around your first few days here, but it will be your responsibility to find transportation after that. Please do not rely on us, or others, to get you to and from work and/or to any meetings you will be required to attend. Also, It would be helpful if you can provide reference letters from previous schools that are translated into English.

Teachers - You will be given a 12 or 13-month pay option in New Employee Orientation.

  • If you select a 12-month pay option, your annual salary will be divided by 12 and you will receive a paycheck on the 27th of each month beginning in September (if the 27th falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, you will be paid the Friday before.)
  • If you select a 13-month pay option, your annual salary will be divided by 13 equal payments and you will receive your first paycheck no later than September 6 and your next paycheck on September 27. You will receive two (2) paychecks in the month of September. You will then receive a paycheck on the 27th for each subsequent month. (The 13-month pay option is for your first year only.)
  • Your last paycheck for the school year will be August 2006.

Employees will be eligible to sign up for any benefits that the District offers within 31 calendar days of your first day of employment. (If your 31st day falls on a holiday or weekend, your paperwork is due to Risk Management on the last workday prior to that holiday or weekend.) Your effective date for most benefits can be as early as your first day of employment - this would include medical insurance. If you visit Risk Management's web pages you can find all kinds of information about the benefits that are offered here in North East Independent School District.

You can find additional salary information on our website. Click on Compensation and then click on the appropriate salary schedule. The New 2005-2006 School Calendar is also available, just click on the one you want to see.
