Welcome to Oak Grove!

Meet Mrs. Gibson

Mrs. Gibson Princepal

DOB: December 11
Education: B.S.Ed. and M.Ed. from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas

Activities as a child:

I graduated from Clyde High School (close to Abilene, TX.)  I lived in Clyde throughout my childhood, so I started and finished at Clyde Consolidated ISD.  It was a 3A school and being involved in many activities was the norm.  I played various sports.  I was in UIL One-Act and Prose Reading.  I was in Key Club, 4-H and Beta Honor Club to name a few.  The activity that I was most involved in was showing Quarter Horses.  I started when I was about 9 or 10 and showed horses until after I graduated from high school.  Even though I no longer have any horses, I do still love them.

Why did you choose education?

I love kids and I love being a part of education because I believe that it really matters.  Public education is one of the really wonderful things about our country.  Our country provides every child a high school education and an opportunity to then make a difference in their lives and the lives of others.  I love being a part of that.

Where was your first teaching job?

My first teaching position was in 1st grade in Breckenridge, Texas.  I had wonderful mentors in Breckenridge and am very grateful for the experience.

Do you have children?

I have three incredibly wonderful kids. Just like all parents, my heart swells with pride at just the thought of them. My oldest two are boys and my youngest is a girl. Scout is a freshman in college. Tate is a freshman in high school and Emma is an 8th grader. And I have to mention that I also have a really great husband, Greg, who has supported me in everything I have done for over 20 years.

Do you have pets?

Ahh, my dogs--they are too funny. Palmer is an 13 year old white and silver shih tzu. Marshall is a 4 year old brownish shih tzu cross (mutt). They are both unbelievably spoiled. We all dote on them constantly and they think this is the way it is for all doggies! (See? They really are spoiled.)

What's your favorite food?

I love all kinds of food!  My "go-to" food is usually Mexican.  It's hard to beat chips and hot sauce and a plate full of something cheesy with a dollop of guacamole and sour cream.  :)

What do you like to do for fun?

I know that everybody says it; but I, too, love being with my family.  Watching the kids do whatever it is they are doing is my most frequent pasttime.  We also all love movies.  We often rent them, but a matinee and a big tub of popcorn is quite a treat with my bunch.
