    It is our pleasure to serve the children and the parents of Northern Hills Elementary.  We have a very busy school year planned for our students.  Mrs. Hines, our part-time counselor, will be at Northern Hills on Thursdays, Fridays and every other Wednesday.  Ms. Sifuentez is the full-time counselor and is at Northern Hills Monday through Friday.
    Ms. Sifuentez and Mrs. Hines provide a variety of guidance and consultative services for children in all grades.  Mrs. Hines will be working with Kinder, Second and Fourth grade students and Ms. Sifuentez will be working with First, Third and Fifth grade students this year.  Both counselors will meet with students individually and in small groups. They will also be involved with parent and teacher conferences. 
    The counselors will visit each classroom for guidance every 3 weeks teaching a 30 minute lesson.  Topics to be covered during lessons will include; responsible behavior, communication skills, study skills, the WHO program (protection from bullies), honesty, career awareness, being drug-free and transitioning from one grade to the next. 
    Ms. Sifuentez and Mrs. Hines look forward to a fun and outstanding school year.  Parents are encouraged to call and set up an appointment if they have any questions or concerns.

    Listed below are the TAKS testing dates for 2006-2007.  We encourage students to be in school and on time every day but especially on these important testing dates.  For student success, we encourage students to go to bed early the night before a test and eat a good breakfast on the morning of the test.  Please try to schedule outside appointments on dates other than the following testing dates.
