Important! End of Year Info

  • New Members: NJHS had their first official meeting today (21 Sept. 2011). The meeting was lead by Mrs. McAllister (NJHS sponsor) and Ms. Carraway (NJHS co-sponsor). Forty-three members and one parent volunteer, Mrs. Warmowski, attended the meeting. Topics discussed were: Members' expectations, necessary student information, officer selection process, and next meeting date and location. NJHS will meet again on Wednesday, 28 Sept. 2011 at 3:45p.m. in the library.
I never imagined that many students would want to run for the President and Vice-President positions! Many of them even asked about the Historian and the Recorder positions! Candidates are all 8th graders, and they are going to hand out their teacher recommendation forms starting tomorrow. Teachers, please give your honest opinion about the candidate you're recommending. NJHS needs students who can be relied upon to be at every activity and give 110% without interfering with their school work.

Thank you, Christina McAllister NJHS Sponsor

  • October 25th – 29th: Red Ribbon Week

  • Every year NJHS is asked to provide some form of service during National Red Ribbon Week. We offer our time and energy to make our student body more informed about the negative effects of drug and alcohol abuse. We are a drug-free organization. Our motto has always been “NJHS is too smart to start.”
This year we decided to make the school more informed about all the young people that have died from drug or alcohol abuse. Participating NJHS members designed black t-shirts to include information about a young person who died. We all wore our shirts proudly and made sure we let everyone around know about the negative effects of drug and alcohol abuse. We tried to send the message that young or old – no one is immune to effects of drug and alcohol.
  • Goals
  • The Nimitz Middle School Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society is sponsored by Ms. Christina Mcallister and Ms. Romelle Carraway.  Sponsoring this organization is an opportunity to work with some of the brightest students on campus.  Our goal for these students is to not only provide them with opportunities to build character and citizenship, but also to make them feel privileged and honored to be a member of this organization.
Each year we ask our students to elect five officers, who will lead the organization as the Executive Committee.  The Executive Committee is made up of five positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Historian.  We are in the process of electing our officers for the 2011 – 2012 school year.
