Instrumental Music Staff: Mark Twehues


Our students are prepared for entry into university and conservatory programs, and trained for careers as professional musicians. They experience a diverse range of musical genres and styles, from chamber music to jazz. Students perform as soloists, as members of the orchestra, and in challenging ensemble formats.
 Comprehensive musicianship courses including ear-training, sight-singing, music history, theory, counterpoint, and composition.

Course work for Instrumental Music will include:

  • Training for a career as a professional musician
  • Advanced and diverse music performed in a challenging ensemble
  • Opportunities to study and perform chamber music and to  perform as soloists with the orchestra
  • Comprehensive musicianship courses including ear-training, music history, theory, counterpoint, and composition
  • Sharing students' musical talents with the San Antonio community
