DANCE - Guest Choreographers

The NESA Dance Department brings in choreographers and teachers throughout the year.  Here is a list of some of our guest collaborators:

Sarah Fazio
Based in New York City, Sarah is one of the foremost master teachers and choreographers in the country.  Sarah has choreographed in Las Vegas as well as for The Carman Heart of Champion Tour which aired on Pay Per View and the Dino Christmas Spectacular which aired on QVC. She teaches for Dance Olympus, International dance Challenge, Dance America, Tam Jams and Starstruck.  She won The America’s Young Choreographer Award and also choreographs for Six Flags Productions.

Tyler Hanes
Tyler is an accomplished dancer/singer/actor who grew up in the Atlanta, Georgia, area and has been a performer for most of his life. Since studying at CMU, Tyler has been fortunate to be cast in several Broadway shows where he has been privileged to work with some amazing performers, directors and producers, including OKLAHOMA!, URBAN COWBOY, THE BOY FROM OZ, THE FROGS, SWEET CHARITY, HAIRSPRAY, and A CHORUS LINE, where he played Larry in the Original Revival Company. He can be heard on the original cast recordings of THE BOY FROM OZ, THE FROGS, SWEET CHARITY and A CHORUS LINE. In fall 2005, Tyler starred as Ren McCormick in a Chicago production of FOOTLOOSE, a role that brought him accolades by Chicago critics and garnered him a prestigious Joseph Jefferson Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical.

Jay Franke
Jay Franke first danced with the Lubovitch company in 2005. Franke began his formal training at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, Texas. In 1993 he was selected as a Finalist for Presidential Scholar in the Arts and accepted into the Julliard School, were he furthered his studies by working with choreographers such as Harkarvy, Tetley, Perry and York. Upon receiving his BFA in Dance from the Julliard School, Franke went to work with the Twyla Tharp Dance Company, “THARP!” Franke has since danced with The 58 Group, Lyric Opera Ballet Chicago, and most recently Hubbard Street Dance Chicago.

Adam Hougland
Adam moved to New York City to attend the Juilliard School. While at Juilliard, he performed the works of Paul Taylor, Lar Lubovitch, Jose Limón and Jiri Kylian. In his last year, he was awarded the Hector Zaraspe Prize for Outstanding Choreography for his ballet Beyond.  For two years, Adam danced with the Limón Dance Company. Still finding time to choreograph he gave Beyond its official world premier at Juilliard. In 2005 Adam was named Principle Choreographer for the Louisville Ballet. Adam is the 2006 recipient of the Princess Grace Award for Choreography, and is one of Pointe Magazines' 10 VIP's of 2006.

Mario Velez Jr.
Mario is from Phoenix, AZ. He's toured with Omarion, TLC, Brandy, Boyz to Men, Paula Abdul, Doug E Fresh and many others.  He has toured with the Harlem Globetrotters.  He has choreographed in Las Vegas and Reno.  He teaches hip hop all over the country and owns a dance studio in Phoenix called Diverse Elements.

Jessica Etzel
Jessica is from Maryland.  She currently performs with Force Performing Company.  She was awarded the Frank Hatchett Scholarship at Broadway Dance Center, and the Dance with the Force Award in Los Angeles.  She has been awarded the young choreographers award two years in a row by the American dance Awards.

Renuka Hines
Renuka Hines graduated in May from Columbia University.  She currently lives in New York City and is currently performing with David Dorfman Modern Company.  She was also personally invited by Bill T Jones to rehearse and take class with his world renowned company.  Renuka is the first dancer ever to receive the Louis Sudler Prize in The Arts & was also recognized by Dance Magazine as a result of her performance in the American College Dance Festival.
