Cellular Phones & Pagers |
The
district allows students to posses telecommunications devices
( which include but are not limited to pagers and mobile phone) during
the instructional day, or while attending school-sponsored or school related
activities during the instructional day, on or off school property, as long as
the devices are concealed and not operable during the instructional day.
Students may have operable telecommunications devices at after school
extracurricular activities on or off school property.
Students who violate this policy shall be subject to established disciplinary measures that will range from a warning to, in cases of persistent misbehavior, assignment to an Alternative Education Program or expulsion. District employees shall confiscate any telecommunication devices that are operable or that emit an auditory alert at school sponsored or school related activities on or off school property during the instructional day.
Parents shall be notified regarding each occurrence after a telecommunication device is confiscated.
Students will not be called to the telephone during class hours for
any non-emergency; such as telephone calls, birthdays greeting, messages,
etc. In case of family emergencies, a message or telephone number
will be delivered to a student in the classroom.
