Truancy is defined as absence from school for any portion of a period or day without proper permission from a parent or school administrator. Madison is a "closed campus".  Students are not permitted to leave the campus until the end of the school day unless unauthorized by a parent, legal guardian, and/or school administrator.  Should the need arrive for a student to leave campus, the student must obtain a blue slip from the Attendance Office.  Blue slips will not be given to students who leave the campus without signing out even if a parent note is brought to the office the following day.  All sign-outs must be done prior to leaving the campus.

Any student who violates this policy shall be subject to disciplinary action as deemed appropriate by their administrator.   The suggested guidelines for truancy referrals are as follows:
