In today’s world, understanding computer concepts and knowing how to apply computer skills that are essential for every student. This course uses Microsoft Office applications such as: Word • Excel • Access • PowerPoint

8288 Virtual Business • (10-12)
Students will learn about the legality, managerial, financial, ethical, international dimensions and marketing concepts of online businesses.

8298 Business Law • (11-12)
Students analyze the social responsibility of business and industry regarding the significant issues relating to the legal environment, business ethics, torts, contracts, negotiable financial instruments, personal property, sales, warranties, business organizations, concept of agency and employment, and real property. Students apply technical skills to address business applications of contemporary legal issues. Students incorporate a broad base of knowledge that includes legal, managerial, marketing, financial, ethical, and international dimensions of business to make appropriate business decisions.

The areas this course will cover include basic marketing, target marketing and segmentation, sponsorship, event marketing, promotions, sponsorship proposals, and sports marketing plans.

8014 Fashion Marketing
Students will learn how advertising and promotional plans, merchandising, consumer behavior are essential in the fashion industry.

8308 Entrepreneurship School Store • 11-12
A course designed to provide a foundation to plan, design, and start a profitable business venture. Students will have the opportunity to manage and market the school store.

Apply critical-thinking skills to analyze personal financial options.  They will learn to set long-term personal financial goals.  They will learn to determine methods of achieving long-term financial goals.

8301 Accounting I • 10-12
This course is designed to give students an introduction to the basic principles of financial accounting for a service business operated as a proprietorship.  This includes accounting principles and practices, recording business transactions into journals, cash management, accounting cycles for merchandising enterprises, preparing payroll entries, accounting for inventories, and basic financial statements.

       
       
   

6732 Commercial Photography • 10-12
Careers in commercial photography require skills that span all aspects of the industry from setting up a shot to delivering products in a competitive market.... Students will be expected to develop an understanding of the commercial photography industry with a focus on creating quality photographs.
What they will learn:  Image Capture, Post Image Production Techniques.

6711 Animation • 10-12
This is a technical course that develops knowledge and skills in the use of computers for multimedia presentations and both 2-D and 3-D animation. Students will learn beginning techniques in 2-D animation using Adobe Flash. Then students will explore 3-D modeling and rendering techniques and resources using Cinema 4-D. Students gain hands-on knowledge to create, model, and render characters, vehicles, scenes, or objects to produce multimedia presentations that use student animations, video, and audio resources in order to deliver a message.

6731 Video Production & Broadcasting
Students produce videos for the campus and the daily announcements.
Students will be expected to develop an understanding of the industry with a focus on pre-production, production, and post-production audio and video activities.

8015 Fashion Design • 10-12
Careers in fashion span all aspects of the textile and apparel industries. Students will be expected to develop an understanding of fashion and the textile and apparel industries.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in the 1st FASA Student Style Show.  
Garments must be 'outside of the pattern', meaning there should be a unique element of design in the garment with originality, quality of construction and wear-ability being consider in the personal design.
Each student will design the garment on paper, and then will make the pattern & the final garment.

This course provides an overview of the therapeutic, diagnostic, health informatics, support services, and biotechnology research and development systems of the health care industry.
Prerequisite for Clinical Rotation and or the Certified Nurse Aide program.

8348 Practicum in Health Science Certified Nurse Aide • 12
Students will learn basic Nursing Skills, how to care for individuals who reside in a long term care facility; how to support an individual with their activities of daily living. At the end of the school year students will sit the Certified Nurse Aide exam administered by the Department of Aging and Disability Services.

       
       
   

8410 Principles of Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security
This course is designed as a study of the history and philosophy of criminal justice and it’s ethical considerations. Crime is defined. It’s nature and impact are explored.

8412 Courts Systems & Practice • 10-12
This course is designed to familiarize a student with definitions, elements of the offense, applications of penal statutes, history of criminal law, provisions of the Texas penal code and case law and criminal law. Students will also study the overview of the federal and state court systems.


8413 Law Enforcement was The Tech Intro. to Criminal Justice • 10-12
This course is an overview of the history, organization, and functions of local, state, and federal law enforcement. This course includes the role of constitutional law, the United States legal system, criminal law, law enforcement terminology, and the classification and elements of crime.

8414 Forensic Science • 10-12
This course provides a basic understanding of investigative theory, collection and preservation of evidence, and sources of information. Methods of conducting interviews and interrogations will also be covered. Students will have opportunities to discover uses of forensic science.

       
       
   

8252 Engineering Design & Presentation was Engineering Graphics
This science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) course covers engineering geometry, multi-view drawings, sectioning, pictorial representation, dimensioning, detail and assembly drawings all using sketching techniques and AutoCAD, and various hands-on projects relating to engineering principles; including CO2 cars, mousetrap catapults, water bottle rockets, and roller coasters. Also explored are 3-D engineering modeling techniques using Autodesk Inventor.

8250 Concepts of Engineering and Technology was Tech Systems
This course provides an overview of the various fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and their interrelationships. Students will use a variety of computer hardware and software applications to complete assignments and projects. Students will work on a design team to develop a product or system. Students will use multiple software applications to prepare and present course assignments. Modules include: Animation, Game Design, Robot Design, Music Design, Video Production, Wind Energy, Solar Energy, Flash Game Design, Electric Vehicles, Flight Simulator, and Rollercoaster design.

       
       
   

6629 Principles of Manufacturing
Students gain knowledge and skills in manufacturing technology in the modern world.
Students gain an understanding of career opportunities available in manufacturing and what employers require to gain and maintain employment in these careers. The study of manufacturing technology allows students to reinforce, apply and transfer academic knowledge and skills to a variety of interesting and relevant activities, problems and settings in a manufacturing setting. Student must pass safety test with 100% mastery.

6647 Principles of Architecture and Construction • 1 year
This course is designed to offer the principles of Architectural and Construction through hands on projects. Careers, safety, measurement, woodworking, tools, and machine skills are taught. Course is designed to teach employable skills in the areas of construction.

6648 Principles of Architecture and Construction • 1/2 year
Course offers basics in all areas of Architectural and Construction careers, mechanical skills, safety, woodworking, and measurement.

8245 Architectural Design • 10-12
This architecture and construction course covers the history of architecture, principles of residential design, architectural styles, and construction practices. Activities focus on the research and development of original working drawings, presentation drawings and model building; including famous historical structures, bridges, cranes, and small sheds. Software includes AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit.

       
       
   

6687 Principles of Information Technology was Computer Applications
Students gain experience in many applications for personal computers. These include Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access), computer aided drafting, 2-D animation (Flash), digital photography (Photoshop), Geographical Information Systems (GIS), webpage design (Dreamweaver), and graphical presentations (Premiere) along with other business and industrial applications.

8297 Digital and Interactive Media was BIMM
Through the study of digital and interactive media and its application in information technology, students will analyze and assess current and emerging technologies, while designing and creating multimedia projects that address customer needs and resolve problems. The knowledge and skills acquired and practiced will enable students to successfully perform and interact in a technology-driven society. The students will learn: Photoshop, Web Design, Graphics, Video Production.

PLEASE NOTE: for the last 10 years BIMM has been a very popular class, with the new name changes, BIMM has changed to DIM.... This can be confusing.... The old BCIS class (using MS Office programs) is now called BIM... Please check your schedule and make certain that if you signed up for the (old name) BIMM class, it’s it reads DIM on your schedule.
