Introduction to Precision Metal Manufacturing Careers

Prerequisites: None

Course Description: This course is designed to familiarize students with introductory skills and a basic understanding of career opportunities and training requirements for four fundamental career clusters related to metal manufacturing careers. It includes machine shop (cutting, drilling, turning, boring, milling, and grinding metal); welding (oxyfuel, shielded metal inert gas); sheet metal (measuring, cutting, fabricating, joining), and quality control operations (measuring devices, blueprints reading, manufacturing processes, material testing). Students will acquire skills which are immediately useful. Entrepreneurship, safety, and leadership training are included.

Course Description: This is a pre-employment laboratory course with job specific training for entry-level employment in the automotive technician career field. It includes use of repair manuals, computers, service and repair of basic components of an automobile: fuel systems, engine emission control, power trains, chassis, electrical/electronics, brakes, and heating and air conditioning. Prerequisites: Auto Tech I and Teacher Recommendation

Course Description: This is a pre-employment laboratory course with job specific training for entry level employment in the diesel mechanics career field. The course content includes utilization of repair manuals; removal, repair, and replacement of diesel engine components; service and repair of fuel injection systems; lubricating systems, cooling systems, and air brake intake and exhaust systems; entrepreneurship, safety leadership, career opportunities, hydraulics, drive trains, and computer and electrical repair.

Trade and Industrial Career Prep (COOP)
Grade Placement: 11-12
Prerequisites: 16 years of age, Personal Transportation, and Teacher Recommendation

Course Description: This is a cooperative education program which allows students to work and gain on-the-job training experience in a specific occupation such as automotive, construction, electrical, graphic arts, and metal trades. The student attends a one period class on campus and is employed in an approved training station under the supervision of an employer. The teacher will visit the training station and work with the employer to ensure quality instruction.

Course Description: This course is designed to familiarize a student with definitions, elements of the offense, applications of penal statutes, history of criminal law, provisions of the Texas penal code and case law or criminal law.
