Why should
students take BCIS?
BCIS allows students to become proficient in many business applications:
Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Desktop Publishing, Multimedia,
Internet access, etc.. All business applications presented in this course
are used in the "real world". In addition, this course may be
counted for local articulated and/or statewide articulated college credit at
community and technical colleges. Students must pass this course with a 'B'
average or higher to receive the college credit.
Our Goal:
Our goal is to prepare every student with the computer skills to do well in
high school, college, business and personal life.
Course Description:
BCIS I prepares students to apply technology skills to personal and
workplace business situations focused on word processing, spreadsheet,
database, telecommunications, desktop publishing, presentation management,
networking, operating systems, and emerging technologies. Students complete
the course with an intermediate level skill in word processing, spreadsheet,
and database application.
BCIS II - The Second Year Course
After taking BCIS I, then become a Microsoft Office power user in
Business Computer Information Systems II. Learn the advanced features of
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Publisher. This course will prepare
you to take Microsoft Office Specialist
industry certification tests. This certification distinguishes its holders
as truly knowledgeable, enhances college resumés, and certifies skills in a
highly competitive job market. Students focus on college and career
research, time-management skills, business communication skills and positive
work attitudes. This course may be counted for local articulated and/or
statewide articulated college credit at community and technical colleges.
Students must pass with a 'B' average or higher to receive the college
credit.
