Madison Maverick Minute
April 1, 2010
Dear Mavericks and Madison Community,
This is our last week of school and the students are very excited. I wanted to let you know that we have many students that have still not turned in their textbooks or paid their obligations. These obligations can be library fines and books, athletic equipment, fund raisers, cafeteria, parking tickets, and a few others. It is very important that these obligations are cleared up before Thursday. We also need to have all lockers cleaned out before the last day of school. Any items left in the lockers will be collected and thrown away.
On Wednesday and Thursday we will have early release at 1:30 PM. All buses will adjust and run with this schedule. Please adjust as well to avoid students staying up at school until 4 or 5 PM. On Thursday, we have a special procedure for releasing the students. We will release by hallway and all students will exit the exterior doors as if it were a fire drill. No students will be allowed back into the building until after 4:30 PM. This allows teachers an opportunity to have an uninterrupted time to grade and average grades. Again, students will not be allowed back into the building until after 4:30 PM. This is why it is very important to have all personal items out of lockers and classrooms. Please help us remind students of this.
Seniors will have their last exams today which will be 1st and 4th. They will report tomorrow (Wednesday) to a mandatory meeting in the auditorium at 9 AM. We will rehearse until 12:30. At 2:30 we will walk through the graduation format and seniors will be allowed to pay for any outstanding obligations and also pick up their caps and gowns. Thursday, the PTA will have a senior brunch at Northern Hills C.C. that will begin at 9 AM. Seniors will then meet at Joe and Harry Freeman Coliseum at 11:45 to do the final rehearsal. This is a mandatory meeting that will last until 2 PM. If a senior misses this rehearsal, they will not participate in the graduation ceremony.
Madison High School is once again a TEA Recognized Campus! We would like to thank the teachers, students, parents and community for all of their hard work and dedication to academic excellence. We were inches away from an Exemplary Campus which is the highest rating granted. Next year is our year! We hope everyone has a great summer and a restful break. Remember we are all Madison Proud.
