Mac Debate!

TFA State Qualifiers need 10 points to compete at the Texas Forensic Association State Tournament.

dramatic interpretation
Prose - Students select story-quality piece and read it as an animated story-teller might. Students use facial expressions, voice changes and gestures to interpret the piece.
Poetry - Students compile several poems all by the same author or a single long poem to be read in an expressive way. Students use facial expressions, gestures and voice changes to communicate feeling.
Humorous Interpretation - Students select a funny piece of published literature, script or manuscript with multiple characters to act out individually. No props or costumes are used.
Dramatic Interpretation - Students find a serious piece of published literature, script or manuscript and act out the piece as necessary. Once again, no props or costumes are used.
Duet Acting - Two students work together on a scene from a published play script to create a performance. Only two chairs may be used and no other props or costumes may be involved.
Cross Examination Debate - MacArthur prides itself on its strong CX tradition. CX Style debate allows two students to work together on a team to create a policy on a certain subject and debate that policy in a structured environment.
Lincoln Douglas Debate - LD debate allows an individual to debate the value or worth of certain ideals in a structured environment.
Extemporaneous Speaking - Students are given a topic from current events in the world and must create a speech based in thirty minutes based on articles they read in the news.
Original Oratory - Students pick a topic that means a great deal to them and is an issue that everyone can identify with and create a speech based on their views of that topic.

Remember our tournament will be coming up soon!  November 9th and 10th we will need support from students, faculty, staff and community members!  If you would like to be a judge at our tournament please do not hesitate to contact your local forensics student or to email Mrs. White or Mrs. LaSelva!
