Congressman Lamar Smith is now accepting
application requests from students living in the 21st District who want to
compete for a nomination to one of the U.S. service academies for classes
starting in the summer of 2008. More information can be obtained by contacting me
or by visiting Congressman Smith's website at
lamarsmith.house.gov for information.
There are two "Academy Days"
sponsored by Congressman Lamar Smith
being planned for the spring. The San Antonio program will be
Sunday,
March 4 at 2:00 p.m. at USAA. The Austin event is planned on Sunday, April 15
at 2:00 p.m. at Concordia University. These programs are open to all students
who are interested in obtaining information on the five U.S. service
academies. Academy admissions officers and current cadets and
midshipmen will be available to talk with students and their parents.
The nomination process will be explained. In addition to the juniors,
we encourage freshmen and sophomores to come.
