Meet the MacArthur Counselors

Natalie Bates

Degrees: Bachelor of Science in Education, Southwest Texas State University; Master of Arts in Counseling/Guidance, Southwest Texas State University

Areas of Certification and Licensure: : Texas State Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education, Reading, and Social Studies; Texas Professional Certificate in Guidance & Counseling

Interesting Facts: Natalie has enjoyed educating and counseling students for 27 years in NEISD as an elementary teacher and a high school counselor. She has a son, Zack, who is a senior at UTSA, and a daughter, Kelsey, who is a freshman at UTSA. She enjoys spending time with her children, traveling, running, and climbing some of the highest peaks in Colorado.

Rolla Bradley

STAN

Degrees: Bachelor of Education from Hardin-Simmons University; Masters of Arts in Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; Masters of Arts in Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Doctorate in Education from University of the Incarnate Word.

Areas of Certification and Licensure: Texas Secondary Teaching Certificate in Special Education and Professional Certificate in Counseling; Licensed Professional Counselor; LPC Supervisor; Career Development Facilitator.

Interesting Facts: Rolla has three children and enjoys being involved with his family’s activities. Aside from school counseling, he also has done pastoral counseling and has a private counseling practice.

Cristina Esparza

Degrees:  Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, University of Texas at El Paso; Master of Arts in Counseling, University of Texas at San Antonio

Areas of Certification:  Texas State Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education with certifications in Reading and Bilingual Education; Texas Professional Certificate in Counseling

Interesting Facts:   Cristina enjoys camping, watching movies, and playing basketball with her 16 year old daughter.

 

Azucena Reyes

Degrees:  Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, St. Mary's University. Master of Science in Guidance/ Counseling, Texas A&M Kingsville.

Areas of Certification: Secondary Teaching Certificate in Spanish. Texas Professional Certificate in Guidance & Counseling.

Interesting Facts: I enjoy spending time with friends, family, my 5 year old maltese named cochese and my husband. I grew up with 2 younger sisters and I have 4 nephews, ages 16, 14, 10 & 4.

 

Kimberly Piccirilli

Degrees:  Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, University of Texas at San Antonio; Master of Arts in Education, University of Texas at San Antonio.

Areas of Certification: Texas Secondary Teaching Certification in Mathematics; Texas Professional Certification in Counseling.

Interesting Facts: Kim is married and has two boys (7th and 9th grade).  This is her 22th year in the district and her 17th year as a counselor.  She loves working with students and spending time with her family.  When her boys are not involved with soccer they enjoy camping with family and friends.

Samantha FitzSimon

Degrees:   Bachelor of Fine Arts, West Texas A&M University.  Master of Science in Guidance & School Counseling, Texas A&M San Antonio. 

Certification:  Secondary Teaching Certificate in Fine Arts Dance.  Texas Professional Certificate in Guidance & School Counseling.

Interesting Facts:  Samantha has been an educator for 13 years with 10 years in NEISD.  She is married with one daughter a first grader named Bailey.  She enjoys hanging out with friends and family, traveling, and watching movies. 

 

Solis

Yvette Solis

Degrees: Bachelor of Arts from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX; Master of Arts in Counseling from The University of Texas in San Antonio, TX

Certification: Texas Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education and English; Texas Professional Certification in Counseling.

Interesting Facts: This will be my 13th year in education. I taught and worked as a school counselor at Larkspur and Harmony Hills Elementary. Recently, I worked at Garner Middle School as a counselor. I am very happy to be here at MAC and look forward to a wonderful school year!
