Prerequisites: Minimum Age - 16, Personal Transportation,
Computer Keyboarding and Teacher Approval
Students will take their required academic courses at school in the morning, but will have the opportunity to work in a professional environment for the rest of the workday. This will allow time to focus on family, homework, or other activities in the evening. Students are placed in entry-level positions within entrepreneurial, partnership, or corporate settings. They earn money as well as up to 3 high school (elective) credits. Students must have personal transportation, computer keyboarding skills, and teacher permission/recommendation.
Students receive exposure to the professional business environment and insight into possible future professional positions within the workforce. Instruction includes one period conducted on campus and a minimum of fifteen (15) hours weekly working off campus under the supervision of an employer.
OVERVIEW
Option 1
Zero Hour Class: 7:30 a.m. on M, Th, F -
and also attend 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th period
(for students who still need four additional classes to graduate)
Option 2
Attend 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th period -
one of which includes the coop class
(for students who only need three additional classes to graduate)
Both options: Students leave school at 12:11 p.m.
to go to work until 5:00 or 6:00 p.m.
Requirements:
- 16 Years old (Juniors or Seniors)
- Teacher recommendation/ permission
- Maintain 70 or better in all classes
- Prerequisite: Keyboarding or pass keyboarding skills test
- Provide own personal transportation
- May need to come to school at 7:30 a.m. on M,Th,F to participate
