We are thrilled to have your child at Longs Creek Elementary School and hope to provide your child with an optimal learning experience.  We value the time we have with your child and ask that you provide us the opportunity to make the most of the time we are given.  As you develop routines for your family, we ask that you consider carefully the habits necessary to foster a child’s education. 

In the mornings, the doors of Longs Creek open at 7:00 A.M. and breakfast is served from 7:15 to 7:45 A.M. daily.  At 7:50 A.M. each morning, your child’s teacher gathers the class from their meeting place (Kindergarten students gather in the library and all other students gather in the gyms).  Having your child present at this time to start the day with classmates helps the teacher establish a routine and ensures that your child has time to unpack, indicate his/her lunch option, and greet friends before the morning announcements begin at 8:00. 

We appreciate having all students present by 7:50, but realize this may not always be the case; when this happens, be aware that the tardy bell rings at 8:05.  Your child will receive a tardy slip if he/she is not in class by 8:05.  The instructional day ends at 3:00 P.M., except for days designated for early release (see early release schedule on Parent page).

Dear Parents/Guardians:

The 2016-2017 school year is well underway and we are excited about the progress that all of our students have already made. We recognize that all students learn differently and we are committed to helping every student succeed. In an effort to help meet the academic needs of all of our students, we are implementing K-5th grade morning intervention groups. The focus of these groups may vary depending on the needs of the group.  For example, some groups may serve as enrichment opportunities while other groups may focus on reading and writing. You can support your child and their success in these groups by making sure he/she is at school on time each day.

On Thursday, October 6, all fathers and father-figures will have the opportunity to show their support by attending our annual Watch D.O.G.S. Kickoff! We will meet in the cafeteria from 5:45-6:45. I encourage all to attend. The deadline to RSVP is Tuesday, September 27. DPS clearance is required to participate in the Watch D.O.G.S. program. This information can be found in the “Volunteers” section on the NEISD homepage under the “Parent” tab. KIDS Camp

The October Fun Day Camp is a one-day camp full of excitement for children currently in grades Kinder-8th grade.

 

Camp Location: Community Learning Center, 8750 Tesoro Drive, 78217.

Camp Date: Monday, October 10, 2016. Camp hours: 7:30 am - 6:30 pm.

Camp Cost: $50.00 with a $5.00 non-refundable registration fee.

 

Parents will need to provide a sack lunch. Morning/afternoon snacks and a field trip to Incredible Pizza are included in the camp fee. Online registration/payment is due by October 5, 2016.  Thestudent permission form must be submitted to the office via email to mlozan23@neisd.net or faxed to (210) 657-8612.
