Principal's news

April 17, 2014

Dear Robert E. Lee Parents /Guardians,

Today during third period your child received their progress report.  Please take time to review their report and congratulate them on their progress.  This may be another great opportunity to encourage your son/daughter to buckle down and finish strong. We also ask that you review the total absences next to each of the class periods.  If you notice eight or more absences and your child has not attended Saturday school, there is a possibility that your son/daughter will not receive credit for that class.  If this is the case, please note seniors may be jeopardizing graduation, and underclassmen may have to attend summer school or will repeat the course next year.

I am always saddened to learn of any student who manages to pass the class but does not receive credit due to their attendance.  Please remind your children of the importance of regular and prompt attendance to all classes.

NESA’s Footnotes performance:  It was a job well done.  Thanks you parents for your continued support at each performance.

JV and Varsity Band:  Excellent performances at UIL competition and earning Sweepstakes.  Great Job!

Choir competed in UIL this week. Great Job!

Our track members competed at the next level of competition.  Good Luck at Regionals!!

Next week we begin our exit level TAKS tests for all Junior students.  Please encourage your son/daughter to be at school on time, to get plenty of rest and come ready to do their best.

Testing schedule is below:

Monday, April 21, 2014: Retest TAKS ELA
Tuesday, April 22, 2014:   Exit Level/Retest Math TAKS
Wednesday, April 23, 2014:  Exit Level/Retest Science TAKS
Thursday, April 24, 2013:  Exit Level/Retest Social Studies TAKS

Senior Parents
Please remind your son/daughter that school is not over.  It is imperative that students remain focused and on track to pass all their classes.  Please remember that lack of attendance increases the risk of not receiving course credits.  There are also a large number of seniors who have financial obligations that require payment before they can walk the stage.  Please contact Assistant Principals Corby Brown at 356-0882 or Dr. Caprica Wells at 356-0826, if you have any questions or concerns.

From the Counseling Department:
Attention parents of graduating seniors:

Tidbits of important end-of-the-year information:
1)  In order for your child to be recognized for any scholarships they have been awarded, he/she must turn in documentation to Ms. Martinez or Ms. Allen in the Career Center.  The deadline to submit this information so it may be included in the graduation program is May 1.  However, we encourage students to continue to bring in documentation letters up until June 5th.
2) Your child must declare the college he/she will be attending by June 5th if he/she wants the college or military choice to be announced at graduation.
3)  Your child must turn in to the Career Center his/her "final transcript request" by June 5th.
4)  If your child will not be participating in the graduation ceremony, please notify his/her counselor by June 5th.

As a reminder, there is NO school tomorrow Friday, April 18, 2014.  It is GOOD FRIDAY, a student/staff holiday.

Enjoy your weekend!!
