From the Desk of Principal Rochkus

Dear Las Lomas Lions,
It has been my honor to serve as the 1st Principal of Las Lomas Elementary. When I applied to open our school, I stated I wanted the challenge of opening a school from the ground up. I wanted to build a strong community and establish strong child focused traditions. I wanted a school where home and school work as partners in fostering an outstanding educational experience for all children. I wanted to build a staff of child-focused educators. Of course, I had no idea what other hidden challenges laid in waiting.
I want to thank the parent community for all of your support and patience. I realize this year has posed many challenges for your family, but I hope you feel it was worth the effort. I believe your positive energy has made our school a success. I enjoy working with you as we continue to form our school identity.
I must thank our campus staff for going the extra mile and making sure that our construction challenges did not negatively impact the education they provided to the students. I believe our staff did an outstanding job and I am proud of their accomplishments.
I need to thank our superintendent and central office for their support. Throughout this year, they have positively responded to all of my requests. They have worked hard to organize transportation, security, and moving arrangements. They have provided us the funding for requested educational resources.
Most of all, I must thank our students!! You have raised wonderful children. The leadership, positive behaviors, and work ethics of your children are outstanding. I receive so many complements from visitors, substitute teachers, presenters, and members of our community regarding the wonderful behavior of our students. As the principal, I am very proud of our students! I go home each day with a smile on my face and brag about our school.
I wish you all a wonderful and fun-filled summer break. I look forward to a more traditional opening of school in August. Our “Meet the Teacher Night” is scheduled for Thursday, August 22nd at 6:30 p.m.

Meet the Teacher Night
We know our Lions will have fantastic memory-making opportunities this summer! We can’t wait to learn more about how our lion families Sharpened the Saw. Please collect a favorite artifact from your adventure, whether they are near or far. Some ideas include a postcard or a family picture. We ask that a short description accompanies the artifact. We would like to display these on a bulletin board.
You can drop these off at the office beginning August 5th to be displayed on “Meet the Teacher Night” or bring them to “Meet the Teacher Night” and we will display them for the 1st day of school.
